Who We Are…

It all started with a $100 shipping & handling fee.

“Why am I ordering online? No one around here sells this stuff?”

Here I am, panicked that I won’t have enough clay to last me through the holiday market season. I’ve lived and worked in Chicago where I could drive 20 minutes to a ceramic supply store, walk down the street to a fine art store for tools, and in Appomattox, Va where supplies were ordered by the pallet which could only be done when we needed enough supplies to fill it. (and then there was a freight fee…) Now, I’m back home in Roanoke, VA where the artist community is incredible & constantly growing. Michael’s just doesn’t have everything we all need.

Over and over again, there are stories and complaints and missed deadlines or limited inventory. What happens when you’re finishing up a 500 mug commission and you run out of glaze for the last one? That sounds like a 6 hour round trip to a ceramic supplier for one pint of glaze.

Being an artist shouldn’t be limited by your location. We should all have access to what we need without wild shipping fees, long drives, and limited inventories.

So here we are. Hambone Supply Co. has been a dream of mine for the last 4 years, and now I am (finally) bringing it to you. With your help, we can create something just for us: an art supply store with everything our community needs to create. Whether you are a professional artist, a student, or a small business, I want to make things a little bit easier.
